I am so sorry for the lack of posts lately – life, work, house renovations, you name it, just got in the way but I’m back!
To kick things off, last weekend my husband Jamie and I took a short break to the W Hotel in Barcelona.
If you ever get a chance to stay at a W Hotel, you must! They are really cool, vibrant and stylish hotels catering for everyone.
We’ve stayed at a couple of W hotels around the world so were so excited to get back. The W Barcelona has beautiful views across the ocean with an amazing pool and a selection of bars and restaurants. Our room was HUGE and open plan with floor to ceiling windows facing the sea and Bliss toiletries to enjoy – very fancy!
I love traveling to Spain as the vibe is just so chilled out. Not eating dinner until 10pm, drinking wine until the early hours of the morning, sleeping in late, taking naps during the day – what’s not to like?
I’m not going to lie; Jamie and I spent the majority of our weekend relaxing, drinking cocktails and people watching by the pool because the weather (and the pool!) was so great. Not even moving from our loungers for lunch as the friendly staff delivered your food right to your bed. It was just what we needed to re-charge our batteries.
On our first night we ate at the W restaurant, Salt, which has outstanding views of Barcelona. The food was delicious (we’ve already tried recreating the dishes at home) and we found our new favourite wine – Crazy Tropez Rose. Has anyone everyone ever had this before? It is AMAZING – so fruity and light and refreshing. I’m still thinking about it a week later. If anyone knows where I can buy it in the UK, I will love you forever!
After dinner, we headed to Wet, which is a bar around the pool at the W, for champagne to celebrate our first day in Barcelona.
As you may know, we have a tradition of going to a Hard Rock Café for dinner while we’re on holiday, so on our second evening we headed to the restaurant on La Rambla. We always order the same food every time we eat here but we just love it even after all the years we’ve been going.
On our last day we decided that we should actually see some of the beautiful city and went exploring. There is so much to see and do in Barcelona. We went for long walks around the city and found lots of sights including the gothic quarter and Casa Batllo. We ate lunch in Blanc in the Mandarin Oriental hotel which was so beautiful and serene. After lunch, we took a cab to Park Guell which features Gaudi’s crazy art.
This was my first time in Barcelona and I’ll definitely be back as there is so much more to do and the people are so friendly and polite. I’d totally recommend staying in the W Barcelona too – you won’t regret it.
