First purchases from Smashbox

DSC00447

I made my first purchases at Smashbox recently and I really like them so far!

I bought the Reflection High Shine lipgloss in Watermelon and the Always Sharp eyeliner in Sumatra which is a dark brown colour.

The eyeliner does what it says on tin and always stays sharp! There must be something inside the lid as every time you twist the lid off on your next application it is sharp and ready to use. I find that because it’s so sharp, you can get a really straight, thin line right above your lash line which I love.  It’s also really highly pigmented so gives a strong colour (so strong that it’s nearly black which I’m not so keen on) and applies really softly without pulling at your eyelids. The eyeliner promises to be waterproof which I haven’t tested yet but it does stay on all day which is a bonus for me as most of my eyeliner’s disappear by the end of the day. One of the only negatives is that I think that it will run out very quickly as it sharpens itself so much.

I love the Smashbox Reflection High Shine lipgloss, even the packaging makes me happy! It’s in a thin, long tube with no wand application which gives a really clean effect on your lips. It’s the perfect coral/peachy colour which looks great on its own or over lipstick but isn’t too pink. It leaves your lips really shiny but isn’t sticky like other long lasting, high-shine glosses and doesn’t dry out either. I’ve never really been a lip gloss fan before but I’ve been converted after using this!

I was also given lots of free samples from Smashbox which I can’t wait to try including their infamous Photo Finish Foundation primer and the Full Exposure eye shadow palette (an amazing idea – a tiny amount of each eye shadow on a piece of paper to test to see whether you like them before buying – genius!!).
