French Pharmacy Haul

French Haul

What does a beauty fanatic do when she’s in Paris? Head to the nearest pharmacy of course!

The French do a lot of things well – wine, bread, shoes but most of all: beauty products. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some cult favourites.

NUXE Reve de Miel Lip Balm

BLOG 008

I purchased this cult product after reading SO many good reviews but in all honesty I don’t think it’s the best lip balm I’ve ever used.

It has a thick putty kind of texture which I like but I think other lip balms like Elizabeth Arden’s 8 hour cream gives a lot more moisture and I prefer the glossy look to the matte effect this balm gives you.
When first applying the balm it feels lovely and fresh and smells delicious but it doesn’t look like you have anything on (for some people this is a bonus) and I personally don’t think it lasts very long.
I’m definitely going to stick to it as all the other reviews I’ve read have been so positive to see if I eventually see a difference. I’ll keep you posted!

La Roche Posay Effaclar A.I

BLOG 012

This product is a god send! I’m a big fan of all La Roche Posay products but this little tube is my favourite.
It is specially formulated to target spots and blemishes and to prevent and heal the marks that they can sometimes leave.
To use you should cleanse and tone your face as normal and before bed add a few dabs of this to any spots on your face. By the morning you’ll notice the spots have less redness and feel less irritated and in some cases they may disappear altogether!
I cannot recommend this product enough for anyone who suffers with the occasional spot like I do.

Vichy Normaderm 3 in 1 Facial Cleanser

BLOG 007
I really loved this facial cleanser. The 3 in 1 technology also means that it’s really cost effective too!
The cleanser is a face scrub, mask and wash all in one. It’s soap free which is a must with me and I found that it controlled the shine in my face and made it feel really clean all day.
It has a creamy texture and the granules aren’t harsh like some other face scrubs which makes the Vichy wash gentle enough to use everyday. After only using this for about 2 weeks, my blemishes have reduced and my skin is less oily.
Bioderma Crealine H20 Micelle Solution
BLOG 005
I’ve never used a cleansing water before and have previously always used Simple facial wipes to remove my make up at the end of the day.
The micelle water is fragrance and alcohol free extremely soothing for dry, sensitive skin.
I could not believe how ‘water’ could remove every trace of make up gently, efficiently and left my skin feeling so fresh and clean with one application! There was no need to use more than one squirt of water and a cosmetic pad.
With the facial wipes, I found that I was using at least two wipes to get my make up off (and I don’t wear a lot) and sometimes felt like my face was a bit sore after using them.
My skin looks cleaner and feels clearer and softer since using it. I am a complete convert to cleansing water and don’t think I’ll ever go back to a face wipe again.
I recently bought the Garnier Micellar cleansing water to see if this compares the Bioderma at all. I’ll post a review soon once I’ve given it a try.
Vichy Aqualia Thermal 24hr Hydrating Care Serum
BLOG 010

I have combination skin which is mostly dry, accept my t-zone area which can be normal to oily,  so I’m always on the look out for a new serum to help hydrate my skin under my moisturiser.

I’ve only been using this serum for two weeks and already know that I will re-purchase this product! It’s soothing, virtually fragrance free and leaves my skin cool and calm.
It instantly sinks into my skin and you only need the tiniest amount to cover your face.
Avene Skin Recovery Cream
BLOG 009
This cream is great to use when your skin is feeling dehydrated or chapped. I’ve been using it as a night cream and it absorbs quickly and has made my skin look really even.
It’s really soothing and doesn’t leave a greasy residue at all. I’ll definitely be repurchasing another tube in no time!
You don’t have go to Paris to pick up any of these products. Lots of pharmacies and websites in England now sell most of them. I find www.escentual.com the best website to purchase premier beauty items from.
